Starting Sunday, January 16th at 6pm, we will be offering a 13 week Doctrine and Theology Class.  This class, taught by Pastor Jobey, will be an in depth, seminary style class going through the major essential and core doctrines of the Word in biblical order.  The goal is to equip the body to become worshippers who worship in Spirit and in Truth, students who rightly handle the Word of God, and missionaries who can defend their faith in an increasingly faithless world.

For a detailed outline of the class, see below.

The class will be $35 per person, or $55 per couple.*  With this, you will receive:

  • 200 pages of well organized and arranged notes, equivalent to a 400 page standard size book, a $20 value.  In the notes, there are over 600 footnotes which include 1,500 Scripture references.

  • A PDF version of the notes.

  • Q and A at the end of each session.

  • A “Doctrine Discount” card for theCanvas.  This card will give you 20% off any bible study materials we offer in theCanvas (excludes clothing, drinks, and music CDs).

  • In addition to the “Doctrine Discount” card, we will be offering a temporary major credit towards one of three suggested doctrinal resource books during the duration of the Class:

  1. Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem.  Highly recommended by the staff.  A 1,300 page single volume yet thorough book that covers some of the biggest and most challenging doctrinal themes

$45 Regular Retail Price

$26 Regular Movement Price

$10 Your special Movement Student Price! ($21 with Discount Card after Doctrine Class is over)

  1. Doctrine by Mark Driscoll.  Also highly recommended by the staff, Mark Driscoll is a no-nonsense, doctrinally sound teacher whose book, which is written more as a traditional book than a reference work, is 400+ pages covering the main doctrines of our faith.

$23 Regular Retail Price

$15 Regular Movement Price

$5 Your special Movement Student Price! ($12 with Discount Card after Doctrine Class is over)

  1. Salvation Belongs to the Lord by John Frame.  Almost 400+ pages, this is a very “pastoral” look at systematic theology as he aims a bit more at practical implications of theology.

$25 Regular Retail Price

$17 Regular Movement Price

$5 Your special Movement Student Price! ($14 with Discount Card after Doctrine Class is over).

  1. ESV Study Bible.  An incredible bible translation perfect fur study and understandability.  The reference notes and commentary, the maps, and the many incredible articles in the back of the book will be points of reference for years to come.  If you don’t have either a study bible or an ESV version of the bible, this is a must have.

$50 Regular Retail Price

$32 Regular Movement Price

$15 Your special Movement Student Price ($20 with Discount Card after Doctrine Class is over)

Descriptions for each book will be given at the class.  These discounts will only be available during the 13 week session.  There will be other recommended books available in case you already have these.  A more thorough list will be available at the class.

*Of course, the class will be available online for free as well, but you will miss out on the included benefits of being there in person.  If for any reason you are unable to pay the registration fee, do not let this hinder you from signing up.  No one will be turned away for financial hardship.  The goal of charging, as you can tell, is to not just cover cost but to purposely put tools in people’s hands.  You can also “audit” individual classes for $5 per class, but with no additional benefits, such as the Discount card or book credits.

Each week will start at 6pm and will go until around 7.45pm with a short break in the middle for coffee, bathrooms, etc.  Childcare will be provided at no charge.
