Why lifeGroups? We know and value, through real life experience, the importance of having close, trustworthy relationships in our lives. The further we get into life and the challenges and joys it brings, the more real that need is realized. With our overly compartmentalized lives (work, school, our kids’ friends’ parents, family, neighbors, etc.), it becomes increasingly hard to have deeper, quality, and faith based friendships that we can lock arms together with and chase after the Lord with. For this reason, we know that as a church (a body of believers), the number one thing we can offer you to help you grow in your faith is an opportunity to find and build those lifelong friendships. This is why, as a church, we have created and put our number one emphasis on our lifeGroups. How do they work? lifeGroups, for us, are the core of who we are and how we grow in our lives. Different from connectionGroups which remain open for everyone at all times, these lifeGroups are typically closed groups, meaning that they cap out at 12-14 committed people that want to grow together as a family and as close friends. We believe that it is amazingly beneficial for all of us to have a close circle of friends to encourage us, help us, laugh with us, hold us accountable, and challenge us. Most of these groups are mid-week in the evenings, most starting around 7 and ending by 8.30 or 9pm. There is usually always a time of hanging out, food and coffee. Some groups will have a time of worship through music, others won't, depending on who goes to the group. All groups have a time of prayer before, during, or after the group. Additionally, many of these groups have great social nights, sometimes even meeting up with other groups to do things like bowling, beach bonfires, beach volleyball, scavenger hunts, and BBQ's. Understanding that life and our needs change, each lifeGroup runs on a 12 week “track,” four times per year (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall). This gives people in the group a chance to try out a different group (maybe move from a singles group to a young married group upon marriage, a Wednesday group to a Tuesday group during their kid’s baseball season, or an Oceanside group to an Escondido group if they move). Nine times out of ten, however, most of the people fall in love with the others in the group and lifelong friendships are born. Why are most of the groups sermon-based, and what does that mean? Most of our groups discuss the sermon from the previous Sunday by going through the lifeGroup Homework, which is included in the sermon notes everyone receives on Sunday mornings (and is also available online on the Sermons page). This is beneficial for you because you are able to review the discussion questions ahead of time, and you've already heard the sermon, so it proves to be more impacting and easier to engage in the discussion. It also helps you streamline the biblical truths you are trying to bury deep into your heart. Instead of hearing a message on a Sunday morning and forgetting it by Monday with no long term effect, now you are able to study it more in your week and most importantly, discuss it with others and ask questions. This is when the truth of God is able to fully take root. Additionally, every Monday Pastor Jobey does a 5 minute video blog giving you a couple points or scriptures to consider during the week pertaining to that week's lifeGroup discussion. How do I find out more? Joining a lifeGroup may prove to be one of the most life changing decisions you will ever make. We know that is a big statement, but we speak from our own personal experience as we look at the friendships we have formed and the friendships that have been taken to a new, deeper, and meaningful level through committing to a lifeGroup. Take a few minutes to look through the available groups below. For more information, contact Pastor Beau at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Sign-ups are four times per year, and if you are new to the church we invite you to first enroll in our S1 (Solidified) Class, which runs two weeks before each lifeGroup session.
